I tried a dremel bit with a grinding stone on it, but the stone deteriorates VERY quick on metal.ĭo I need a Tungsten Carbide Cutter for my dremel? i looked last time i was at Lowes, but didn't see one on the shelf. Set includes 7 punch and die accessories.

Constructed with steel for lasting cutting edges. I have a drill press, hand drills, and a dremel to choose from, but I haven't found a bit in my lacking tool box that does the trick yet. This hole punch kit equips you with the ability to punch holes through rubber, canvas, leather, gasket material, plastic, brass, aluminum, copper and other soft sheet metals. So far I've been getting by with shortening up my drill bit in the chuck and very slowly try to eat away at the edge of the hole I need to clearance, but this totally sucks and there has to be a better tool that i don't know about. I would like to know what the right tool is for me to oval the hole so I can pass my bolt through? I would also like to use this tool not only for fixing my errors, but for cutting slots to make parts adjustable.

Basically what's happened is I've made a few items out of metal that attach to existing parts on my rig - sometimes i'll not pay 100% attention or my punch mark isn't deep enough to center the 1/8" drill bit i'm drilling with or it will flex from being so long in the drill press and the hole will end up off center. I've been farting around in the garage making random things and something that has come up for me is "how do i drill/cut an oval hole?". Wondering if anyone has got any tips for drilling/cutting small (1/8") oval holes in metal (16ga)?
